In 1994 there were some great fads sweeping this great country of ours. First off, the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam were freakin' awesome. Secondly, we were in the middle of the Super Nintendo's reign as supreme video game being. The Super Nintendo arguably has the best video game library there will ever be.
Also in 1994 the movie Street Fighter, based on the popular Super Nintendo/Arcade game, premiered starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile. I saw this movie when it came out. I was 11 yrs old. I specifically remember it being bad and I have never watched it since.
I'm big on nostalgia though and in recent years I've found myself wanting to watch this movie again to give it another chance and probably have a laugh.
Well, last night I was in luck. One of the many HBO channels we have here at the apartment played the movie in its entirety. I watched it...
AND IT SUCKED AGAIN!
Sweet God, It was ridiculously bad. This coming from a guy that thought the movies Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil (1st one) were awesome. The characters outfits were unbelievably corny, the story wasn't even bad enough to be funny it was just plain boring! The worst part of it all was that there weren't any actual street fights! Everything was missiles, guns and warfare. There was a part in the middle of the movie that came very close to street fighting. Ryu and Vega were about to face off in a cage match and once they finally start the fight Guile comes crashing in the building with a giant tank and arrests everyone! WTF!?
Anyway, check out this Street Fighter tribute I found on YouTube. You can see said Ryu/Vega incident in the video.

Also, *"** Spoiler Alert! ***
At the end of the movie M. Bison controls his bombs and explosives with an arcade style buttoned machine. Nice.
